Safe-T-Works provides training programs to meet the needs of all aspects of the drug and alcohol testing program for DOT clients. This includes driver training, supervisor training relative to reasonable suspicion testing, designated employer representative (DER) training, and drug and alcohol program manager (DAPM) training. We also offer training on drug and alcohol regulations specific to each DOT area.

C-TPA

Safe-T-Works offers full consortium/third-party administration services for drug and alcohol testing and DOT compliance issues. We can assist you with policy development, creation and establishment of a drug and alcohol testing program and provide you with services to keep you compliant with DOT regulations including administration of FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse functions. For single owner-operators and small DOT operations, Safe-T-Works operates a DOT drug and alcohol testing consortium that provides big company testing for small and single member companies.

Consortium

A consortium is an association of multiple employers with the same or similar testing requirements. Federal regulations require that every company employing DOT employees must have a compliant drug and alcohol testing program including random testing. Small companies can find such a program to be expensive and burdensome, and employees often complain about being tested repeatedly because the random pool is so small. A consortium can be the answer for all of these issues since administrative staff for the consortium are provided by the C/TPA, thus reducing the personnel and recordkeeping burden. DOT regulations require that single driver operations must use a consortium for testing purposes since it is impossible to randomly select from a pool of one. For companies with only a small number of drivers, the testing burden can be reduced because each driver is now one in a much larger pool of potential selectees, reducing the possibility that a single employee might be selected repeatedly.

DOT Physicals

Pre-Employment Physicals

Employee physicals are designed to evaluate your employee's health and their fit for work status. Most physicals capture the individual's vital signs, past medical history, allergy information, and social history data. Our medical experts are specifically trained to understand and perform these procedures in accordance to state and federal regulations as well as your unique business needs. Depending on the industry and your company's requirements, these exams can be done for pre-employment or regularly every year.

Our pre-employment physicals can include:

  • Regulatory and Compliance Examinations - establish a medical baseline for employees according to certain regulations (DOT, DHHS, OSHA, etc.), and include periodic medical monitoring when indicated.
  • Fitness-For-Duty Examinations - confirm that employees returning from medical leave can perform their job duties.
  • Executive Wellness Examinations - establish baseline medical information as part of companies' voluntary health and wellness initiatives.
  • Health Risk Assessments - confirm the biometric numbers/scores of employees as part of long-term health and wellness, and indicate potential areas of health risk.

Driver Qualifications Files

Safe-T-Works can provide you with all services necessary to establish and maintain driver qualification files. We provide our clients with all the forms including a company-specific application form and packet for compiling and maintaining driver qualification files. This service can be as simple as assisting you with the necessary elements to full service which includes all the legwork and research to fully maintain your files for you.

Federal Clearing House Administration

Safe-T-Works offers Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse administrative services as a C/TPA registered with the Clearinghouse. We can greatly simplify the process for you and your employees by providing all forms necessary and performing the operations for you. For those clients who are also drug and alcohol testing clients, we provide you with the tools to provide a single submission for the random selection pool that also keeps your drivers sorted by limited query and full query needs each year. We also offer assistance in setting up company and driver accounts in the Clearinghouse

DAMIS Reports

For DOT clients, Safe-T-Works provides reporting services to provide you with all the information needed for Drug and Alcohol Management Information System (DAMIS) reporting. We can guide you through the nuances of the report process and provide assistance up to, and including, completion of the reports. FMCSA employers are not required to make an annual DAMIS report but may be required to do so by request of the FMCSA and also at times of audit. FTA employers are required to make an annual DAMIS report.
